Product Description
This state-of-the-art Cuisinart coffeemaker features an advanced heater design that turns up the temperature for hotter coffee – because temperature is as important as taste! And it retains coffee’s full flavor and quality throughout the brewing process. The over-sized digital display illuminates the full range of programmable options, including Regular and Bold flavor settings. And the styling is sleek, with elegant angles, a new high-tech look, and an extremely user-friendly control panel. Cuisinart provides a limited 3-year warranty for this product. Lid is a tight fit and snaps on. There is a square mechanical button on the top of the coffee maker that needs to be pressed in order for the lid to open. Coffee Maker leaks if you overfill it with water.

Customer Reviews, including Product Star Ratings help customers to learn more about the product and decide whether it is the right product for them.
To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyzed reviews to verify trustworthiness.

Customers find the coffee maker produces great-tasting coffee at the right temperature and appreciate its 14-cup capacity with 1-4 cup options. The machine is simple to use with easy-to-set controls and functions well. However, the design receives mixed feedback, with some finding it attractive while others consider it poorly made. Moreover, the lid durability is concerning as the hinge mechanism breaks easily, and there are water leakage issues with water dripping all over the place.

- Reviewed in the United States on June 17, 2014Color: BlackVerified PurchasePurchased this coffee maker after reading many reviews and weighing the price versus features.Let me first say that the coffee maker is able to make coffee at a very hot temperature and do this in about 7-8 minutes. It is faster than my former Mr. Coffee and is hotter in temperature (sometimes it is too hot to drink the very first thing in the morning!) I have had this for about three weeks and have been satisfied. The carafe is 14 cups of about 5 ounces (many regular coffee mugs are much larger than 5 ounces, so remember to factor this when making coffee for 4-5 people). Also, the finer your grinds of coffee, the gold tone filter will allow the grounds to pass through it. However, the grounds would be very fine for this to occur. One review that mentioned the lid sticking in place at the top (you must push a bottom on the top for the lid to spring up for access to water reservoir and coffee filter), the main problem would be the water used for brewing your coffee. I use filtered water from my refrigerator to fill the carafe with filtered water and then fill the reservoir. The lid sticking to the latch at the top of device might be from calcium deposits from hard water in your local tap. Depending on your water quality, the white film (calcium and lime) can build up to where the latch and lid are fused into position. I have always used filtered water (I have an Aquasana filter at the faucet in the kitchen) and did not need to clean my former coffee maker for almost 14 months, whereas others would have to clean their coffee maker in about 60-90 days.
Even though this machine has a chlorine filter, the water that is being heated creates steam that could collect around the rim of the lid and over time create the film of calcium and lime that could cause lid failure. This coffee maker has exceeded my expectations and makes great coffee! The timer is spot-on and if you allow 10 minutes before waking from sleep to allow a full brew cycle to finish, then you should be fine.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 4, 2016Color: BlackVerified PurchaseMy wife and I compared this one with another Cuisinart coffee maker that had similar features but was $40 cheaper at a big box store. The other Cuisinart had an adjustable temperature heating plate where this one heats the water to a higher temp. We decided to go with this one because of the higher water temp. We were using a Food Network coffee maker which worked fine but we felt we were due for a new coffee maker. I tested the temp of the coffee from my old maker and it was about 163 degrees. The coffee from this machine is about 185 degrees. It is noticeably hotter! My wife used to have to microwave her coffee after adding so much milk. She no longer needs to. I like my coffee hot. This is wonderfully hot. I don't have to microwave it after 5 minutes. I'm still experimenting with the amount of coffee and whether to select bold or regular but I'm sure we'll get it perfectly. We really like this coffee maker and like the large readout of the time on the display. I rarely give anything 5 stars but I haven't found anything I didn't like about this. Well, I would like the lid of the pot to come off easier when adding water but that's a nit.
Subsequent to this review our hinge broke like others complained. We contacted the company and they sent a replacement. A few months later the hinge broke on that one. They sent another under warranty. So today (10.4.2019) I noticed the hinge is broken again. It's too bad because the coffee maker brews and heats well but the hinges are too cheaply designed.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 8, 2013Color: BlackVerified PurchaseThis coffeemaker brews a wonderful pot of coffee. I am typically put off by electric drip machines due to a lack of flavor extraction from the beans and a luke-warm result. But that hasn't been the case with the Cuisinart DCC-2800. The ability to select regular, bold and small batch (1-4 cup) brewing options is fantastic. Switching between these modes one can see a distinct difference in the resulting coffee. Moreover the coffee just after brewing is noticeably hotter when comparing to other machines. The display and button interface is easy to read and straightforward.
I mentioned that there are a few annoyances with respect to design:
1) The lid: the lid for this machine is one large piece of plastic that opens by pushing a button on the top to release the spring. Once opened there is access to the filter basket in the front and the water reservoir in the rear. While filling the water reservoir it becomes quite easy to accidentally splash cold water over top of the coffee grounds. I've used other machines that have a separate lid/flap for the coffee grounds and the water reservoir which would prevent this.
2) The lid again: the lid only opens 90 degrees. Since it is one large flap that stands approximately 8" high, while pouring into the water reservoir one can only tilt the carafe so much until their hand bumps into the lid, preventing a better pouring angle.
3) The carafe: it is impossible to completely empty the carafe without turning directly upside down and shaking. Therefore, after filling the water reservoir, before brewing, one must completely empty into sink, otherwise the coffee will become watered down.
4) Excess moisture: after brewing and emptying out the old beans/filter, there is considerable moisture that remains inside the machine due to poor ventilation. In order to completely dry in less than 36 hours one must leave the lid opened. This becomes a problem when programming the brew the night beforehand as the remaining moisture is soaked up by the paper filter and then the beans.
I've had better designed coffee pots in the past, however this one delivers a better end result.
