- Reviewed in the United States on October 29, 2020I have a 20 year old Viking VGIC305 30 inch freestanding stainless steel range. I got good service from the original oven igniters but they are finally dying 20 years later. There are three igniters total in my 30 inch Viking range - 2 for the oven, one for the broiler. Your experience with the number of igniters may vary.
I found dozens of igniters across the online spectrum from the Viking OEM model (~$165 EACH!!) to some suspicious Asian knockoffs for about $12 each. I was not spending almost $500 on three OEM Viking igniters for a 20 year old range. The truth about where the products are sourced is sketchy at best.
This particular igniter on Amazon is listed as being made by Frigidaire and is a good example of the online confusion for country of origin and manufacturer. The ones I received from Amazon are actually made by Robertshaw for Frigidaire and probably a lot of other stove companies. Robertshaw is a 120+ year old American company based in Illinois that makes electrical parts, controls and valves to name a few. See my attached photos for the Robertshaw/Made in USA tag. The Robertshaw model is the one with the shorter ceramic body.
The Robertshaw igniters I received from Amazon are identical to the ones in my Viking range minus the 2 spade clips on the wires. For $145 less (each) than the Viking OEM igniters, I added an insulated spade connector myself and connected it with ceramic wire nuts. Don’t use regular wire nuts, they won’t take the oven heat, could melt a cause a short and/or a fire. No bueno!
The major difference between the OEM Viking, this Robertshaw model I bought and the Asian knockoffs I saw appearance wise is that the metal igniter element on the Viking and the Robertshaw is a flat rectangle. On the Asian knockoffs, it's circular. I don't know what difference that makes for the usability or longevity of the Asian models but I'd rather not find out.
I bought three of these Robertshaw igniters and I'll likely buy 3 more shortly down the road once I see how these new ones perform for a few months. (I bought 3 more at a later date).
OEM Viking parts are like BMW parts - absurdly expensive - and the supply chain changes constantly. If Ireorder these same igniters in a year, they might be sourced from overseas or elsewhere or simply vanish from Amazon.
The photo on the right hand side shows the old igniter with the longer ceramic body. The Robertshaw model from Amazon is on the left.

This is only the second one I have had to replace in a 20 year old Kenmore oven.

- Reviewed in the United States on October 18, 2024I was about to pay $200 just for a technician to visit my house and diagnose my issue. I saw that gas and ignition was working on my stovetop and broiler but only my oven wouldn’t light up. I checked YouTube for some diagnosis advice and the video said it would take less than 20 mins to replace. I checked for OEM part number on the Frigidaire website and then ordered it. 2 days later it arrived and my little project began. This OEM igniter fit perfectly and my oven is back working as normal. Thank you Amazon and YouTube for saving me so much money.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 16, 2025Worked. Came on time, very fast. One of the supplied ceramic wire nuts came broke. The other was useless. They don't have an internal metal insert so it just stripped out. Thankfully I had ceramic wire nuts on hand (The wire nuts I had laying around had metal where they screw onto the wires.) You will need to purchase CERAMIC wire nuts separately. This is a high heat application. Plastic will melt.
FYI. My symptoms sort of confused me. The ignitor was still getting very hot, glowing. Problem was the safety solenoid gas valve is wired in Series with the hot surface ignitor and will not open to turn on the gas unless the ignitor draws like 3 amps. Mine was drawing 2.6 amps.

- Reviewed in the United States on March 7, 2025this unit was well packaged, came with instructions and fit my frigidaire FGF326ASE. This replacement is a universal replacement part which differed from the original equipment in my stove. My stove had a 3 part connector. 1 wire plugged into the bottom corner of the stove behind a metal cover and a wire came off of that and plugged in behind the the flame on the floor. The other wire that comes off of the ignitor plugs in to the other side of that safety to complete the circuit. The new ignitor has to be connected to the harness described above by cutting the wire on the old harness that plugs into the stove behind the metal plate. the other wire that gets cut is the one that is on the other side of the safety on the right hand side on the bottom. So DO NOT THROW AWAY THE OLD IGNITOR YOU WILL NEED IT TO WIRE UP THE NEW IGNITOR FOR THIS MODEL. DIRECTIONS DID COME WITH THIS PARTICULAR IGNITOR SO 5 STARS. I WOULD GIVE 6 STARS IF THEY INCLUDED 3 WIRE NUTS THAT MUST BE CERAMIC TO USE SAFELY INSIDE THE STOVE. IF YOU BUY A IGNITOR AND THEY SEND YOU ANYTHING BUT A CERAMIC WIRE NUT RETURN IT. THE Ignitor seems to be pretty sturder and installation went well.

5.0 out of 5 stars Worked perfectly and no issues with installation
Was very happy to find this part at a great, reasonable price. It was installed simply and seems to be working fine. I was so afraid I was going to have to replace my stove and I'm super glad to avoid that $3000 bill!

5.0 out of 5 stars Works well, easy to install
I used this in a Wolf Stove... which the parts store told me "Wolf have their own special parts"... No they do not! These parts are all made by the same few vendors. Some by Coors tec, some by others. All used by Fridgeagaire, Wolf, Thermador and others.
Last time the Wolf repairman came and "fixed" my stove, he changed the ignitor with a Thermador (CoorsTec) part for $118, plus he changed the gas distribution thing for $400... Grand total $950 with labour! Turns out the problem was a $40 part... And a few hours of my time!

4.0 out of 5 stars White-Westinghouse brand
This was a direct replacement for my white-westinghouse gas oven. Wired in very easy to the existing leads. Been a month so far no issues. Oven fires up within 10 seconds

5.0 out of 5 stars fits my maytag gas range model #mgr4450adw
This fit my gas range perfectly and was simple to install. I removed the bottom of the range by pulling the two tabs located at the back, then lifted up, it swivels at the front. Removed one thumb screw holding the heat shield. Now you can see the ignitor. Remove two 8mm/5/16" hex screws and snipped the two wires...chuck the old ignitor. At the back of the stove is the small panel that is at the bottom left. It has been cut except for two short spots that if you wiggle it back and force will break. Flip it over and it will fit back with the addition of one screw. After removing the previous panel, cut the two red wires that lead the the ignitor connector and chuck the connector. Strip the two red wires back 3/8" and connect to the new ignitor wires with the supplied ceramic marrets.Frigidaire 5303935066 Gas Oven Ignitor

5.0 out of 5 stars A good substitution to the OEM part at attractive price
This was to replace a defective hot surface igniter for a Blue Star 36” range.
Early symptoms of pending failure included a very long time for stove to heat up (should normally take about 15 minutes to reach 350 C for a stove this size), faint gas smell sometimes, and eventually total fail with no heat at all, even though you may still see the igniter glow orange. If the temperature never reaches a preset limit, the gas valve doesn’t open, indicating that the igniter has now failed.
There is an excellent video online that shows how to replace the igniter on this very particular Blue Star model, which actually shows the replacement part being exactly the same as the one sold here.
I thought that the hardest part was actually to reinstall the oven door...a bit tricky.
The only visual difference between the OEM part and this one is the ceramic portion extending a few inches behind the metal bracket which is not present on this replacement part...not sure why, but it works nonetheless as the bracket, ignitor, wires, all appear to be exact,...same as the required amps, 3.2 to 3.6 amps...and the price of course being much more attractive.
Speaking of price, when I ordered this model mid November 2019, it was listed here at $35.65. A week later it’s now listed at $41. Not the first time I see prices vary so wildly on many different products on Amazon! Weird.
Still, the OEM part is hard to find and if you do find it somewhere else, it’s often double or more.
This is a Frigidaire/Electrolux part, so let’s hope it lasts.
But for now, a first test after installing was a success, it lit up well within the 90 seconds required and I could hear a nice gas flow the way it’s supposed to be...total time to reach 350 C was 14 minutes...which is just below average on stoves that big.
