The Tao of Tea, Rooibos Tea, Loose Leaf, 4 Ounce Tin

The Tao of Tea, Rooibos Tea, Loose Leaf contains 100 percent Organic Rooibos Leaves. Full-bodied and fruity, with an earthy flavor and aroma of vanilla. Rooibos is a member of the legume family of plants, and is commonly used to make a tisane (herbal tea). It belongs to the Aspalathus plant group, which consists of more than 200 species originating in the Cedarberg mountains of South Africa. Rooibos grows exclusively in the Cedarberg Mountain region and around Clanwilliam and Citrusdal, due to the specific climatic and geological conditions of the region. Tea purists seek only the clean, clear and pure flavor of the leaf. This is because the unadulterated leaf has the capacity to provide an experience which has inspired many artists, musicians, philosophers and monks. Our company is based on this premise and offers great quality leaf that is fresh, flavorful and full of soul. Only a small portion of all tea made in the world comprises the ‘orthodox’ or full leaf style of processing. In addition, only a few tea areas remain where ‘old-style’ hand processing is still practiced from tea plants that grow wild or those that have been preserved for centuries. The Tao of Tea works primarily with tea growers that practice this true art of tea making.

The Tao of Tea, Kali Cha Oolong Tea, Loose Leaf, 2.5 Ounce Tin

Introduction: Grown at an altitude of 4800 feet and twenty miles from Darjeeling (the famous tea growing region of India), Kali Cha is one of the first authentic style oolongs from India. The region of Kurseong “The Land of White Orchids” has several tea estates known to make light, fragrant black teas. New Technique The leaves are baked in a rotating tunnel roaster at a high temperature for short periods. In between roasting, the leaves are gently rolled sideways to develop their flavor. This method eliminates the slight astringency commonly found in teas from Kurseong. In Taiwan, this style of tea making is similar to the process for making ‘Bai Hao Oolong’. Although Kali Cha is a hardy tea and maintains its flavor for several months, it is best enjoyed during early to late summer. Flavor Profile: Smooth taste with distinct, toasty aromas of cocoa and peanut shells. It is a very forgiving tea for brewing and makes a delicious iced tea.
